UNRELIABLE -- AVOID

by cmaj on Monday 30 of July, 2007 [20:29:05 UTC]
Totally unreliable. Don't let 2 cents a minute fool you. Hobby numbers are great, but business numbers can't die like this.

No website, members portal, and all phone lines at their office are fast busy.

Incoming toll free numbers sometimes ring thru to the back up number, but usually end up going to dead air. Limited outbound dialing is sporadically working.

It's been almost a week now like this.

Just thought somebody should document the situation.

Very poor company to deal with

by Jerry Cloe on Wednesday 23 of May, 2007 [05:13:17 UTC]
Let me share my experience with this company. First I'll start by saying I'm very thankful that I signed up with them using a new/temporary email address.

I tried signing up with them over a month ago. I could see no confirmation on their website that they were able to provide a DID in my local area. I couldn't find the list anywhere. I opened a "ticket" and was basicly called an idiot from the start. After a couple comments back and forth "jeremy" finally stated that I could see what was available by trying to add a DID to my account. Guess what, you can't get to that screen until you give them money. Again I added to the ticket indicating that I still could not verify that they could provide a DID in my area. Their response? "You have to pay before you can order". OK, now we are just going down hill.

Finally after a month of this going back and forth I notified them to just close out anything I have with them and that I would not be proceeding with their service. I also told them not to contact me again. I immediately started getting spam directly from Jeremy with rude comments.

Within 30 minutes I started getting spam and all sorts of other stuff from tons of other sites (remember I said I was thankful that I signed up with a new account??). The next day I also got a ton of phone calls from companies because I supposedly "signed up for information" on their website. All of this was traced back to that new email address I setup for them and an IP that I later traced back to an anonymous proxy server. These companies had my name (well some of them did, others had childish words for my name that I probably shouldn't repeat here), my physical address (that I supplied to nufone) and that unique email address that I supplied nufone.

I just can not believe the childish actions of this company.

This company is simply not mature enough to get my business. Reading other comments from other people, it appears that the majority of people would seem to agree with me on the maturity level of this company. They take no accountability, offer no support, blame problems on the user when its clearly their issue, and retaliate when things don't go their way.

Stay far far far away from this company.

At the same time I started inquiring from this company I setup accounts with two other voip providers, and both of those are now working without problem (in fact both were working within 15 minutes of my attempts to set them up and within 4 hours of answering any questions that I had). One of the other providers even went as far as immediately answering a question I had about their service AND clarifying a FAQ question on their page that caused the initial question about their service.

Cmaj, If you would have been a subscriber of our members only announcement list you would have had more than sufficent notice to avoid any downtime.

Down, again, totally down

Looks like mysql crashed (go figure) about 12 noon Eastern today. No toll free, no website, no working contact number, no email reply to error report. This has happened more than once in the past year. I would guess they got about 90.000% uptime. I wonder how many customers do you lose when your toll free number stops working for the day ?

Here's what I got once after logging in right before the websito completely died:

Happy with my service

I can't speak for others but I have never had anything but really good service from them. Support requests are answered quickly and problems are solved.

Kasey,

I apologize if there was a misunderstanding. We helped with the transition, but Nufone itself was not acquired by Newman Telecom. In the process, my work number was listed and I passed off all of the requests to company officials at Nufone as I promised. Regardless, they have made a huge turnaround. The Nufone today is well serviced, much more stable, and growing like crazy.

Questionable management

by Ron Austin on Sunday 29 of October, 2006 [06:34:30 UTC]
I had Nufone for awhile and could not get it to work. VoipStreet and VoipJet both worked and offered a free account to test the service with before buying. Nufone did not. However, Nufone did offer a refund if not satisfied, so I paid them $10. When I asked for a refund here was the interchange:

ME: Hi. I would like a refund of my remaining balance to my pay pal account as per the user agreement. My remaining balance is $9.97. Thanks.

CEO JEREMY MCNAMARA: Exactly where in our Terms and Conditions does it provide refund details?

ME: Is this a quiz, or are we just playing games with semantics over $9.97? From your site:

http://www.nufone.net/residential/

"Sign up RISK FREE!
If you are not happy with NuFone, for any reason, you can cancel your service within 30 days and will receive a refund of remaining funds, no questions asked."

So that's one question asked. And I still have not received a refund which can be done immediately through PayPal.

Nufone - Newman Telecom (Bad Experience!!!)

by kasey wilson on Tuesday 19 of September, 2006 [18:33:37 UTC]
I was told by Justin Newman that his comany Newman Telecom has acquired Nufone. I have been dealing with Newman Telecom for the past 8 months and have had nothing but problems with them. Things were fine for the first 2 months when they were making us promises and charging are credit cards for these promises. However, there products, service, support, and professionlism have been HORRIBLE. They have not provided us with half of what they charged us for and they seem unwilling to work anything out.
