ADM - Asterisk Desktop Manager

This is the pre-release of Asterisk Desktop Manager, or ADM. The application interfaces your VOIP telephony with the desktop and Asterisk PBX. It provides some great features!

  • Automatic on-call volume reduction
  • One click dial from clipboard (paste number onto tray icon)
  • Integrated phonebook
  • List/Redirect/Hangup all active calls
  • One click call forward setup
  • Bluetooth presence detection to redirect calls when you walk out of the office
  • Pop up browser on incoming call (integrate with your CRM to auto load customers details when they call)
  • Cisco phone integration (auto speakerphone)
  • Slide-in popup on incoming call, with Answer(cisco only), Hold, Busy and Redirect buttons , CallerID and duration

ADM runs on Windows and Unix and is written in java and uses the eclipse swt library. It is compatible with Linux and Windows and shortly Mac OS X, and runs neatly in the system tray.

Click here to download the latest version of ADM, or a CVS snapshot you can compile yourself from http://adm.hamnett.org

Update on progress....

I'd just like to update everyone on the progress of ADM. As you can probably see from the CVS stats I have been very busy lately (moving house and starting back up at Uni etc).

Stefan and I now have some time available again to pick up on the development, and we are hoping to roll out a fully featured release in time for Asterisk 1.2!

Our new plugin system is designed with simplicity in mind. It's very easy to develop a plugin to do almost anything you wish on an incoming call(etc). We've already had one plugin contribution from Matthew Brichacek, which integrates the VTiger CRM application, by opening up a users details on-screen automatically by using the incoming caller ID number.

I've made some fresh development installers available at the bottom of the downloads from the latest CVS :)

Re: it just doesn't work and there's not manual

For christ's sake, quit whining. Let's break down your arguments:

"it installs, accepts asterisk manager addr/id/pass, cisco's ip/pass and... hothing!" -> So then you've configured it wrong. That's OK, it happens. Keep trying until it works.

"the site isn't helpfull in the slightest bit." -> I can't say how the site was in March, but it's pretty good now. In my experience, the documentation will ALWAYS need work. The beauty of an open source project is that YOU can help make the docs better. If you're not willing to, you forfeit bitching rights.

"thre should really be a law against this sort of "programmers"." -> Yeah, ban all the open source programmers! Punish those who spend time creating good software that you get to use for free. Reward the big-budget blockbuster software, stomp out all the start-ups and so on and so forth... You big idiot. You CHOSE to use this software. It had "PRE-RELEASE" written ALL over it. If you can't comprehend those words, that's your problem.

"i'm really piseed. and don't tell me that free software is supposed to be crappy and with no manuals. i know better." -> You know NOTHING about OSS, let alone what's "better" for anybody. Stop being a troll. And if you don't like the software, don't bloody well use it. You obviously didn't spend any time at all trying to get this to work, and instead of ASKING for help, you posted your bitching to VoIP-Info. If these are in fact your opinions, then keep them to yourself, as they're not useful to anyone.

Also, if you MUST complain, at least put some effort into spelling and punctuation. You've only embarrassed yourself with this post.

And on a different tangent, I currently use ADM and I love it! Works great for me... If you can't figure it out, there IS a forum.

IT does work :)

Hi there,

The software is still in development and is early beta, as is clearly stated. ("PRE RELEASE") But there is some help on what the settings mean. If you hold your mouse over the name of each setting, you will see a tooltip, with a description of the setting, and a short example.

We will be adding documentation shortly, but development just had to be held off slightly for personal reasons. If anyone wants to contribute to the documentation or development, just give me a shout!

I would agree completely (other than the law thing).
There is absolutely no documentation. Even a very basic run down of the settings and what they are for would be helpful.
Its a pity as this looks like a very interesting and possibly useful project, if just a few docs where writ up and maybe a few more programmers
helped with new ideas.
